Unfortunately, this year's Cheyenne Frontier Days steam train ended in tragedy. The train struck a pedestrian at 124th Avenue in Commerce City. I was at 120th Avenue, four block to the south. The crew made an emergency call to DS86 to report the incident. The train came to a stop and first responders were there almost immediately. I left and headed home right after this quick shot showing a copy arriving on scene, having a bit of a hard time keeping it together on the car ride. Nothing but prayers for the family involved and the steam crew onboard UP 844. The train remained stopped for nearly four hours as police investigated. Passengers on the train were taken off at the scene and loaded onto busses for the remainder of the trip in to town.
