The Crossover Of
East Helper

Siding Gallery Homepage

East to Mounds

The Siding Gallery, by design, does not show any trains (unless it is unavoidable) in pictures of the sidings. This is so you can see the layout of the land and get your own ideas on how to take pictures of trains. However, if you'd like to see pictures taken from various spots at this siding, then you can Search the Photo Gallery for pictures here on ColoradoRailfan.com!

The Crossover of East Helper is located at milepost 625.5 on the GreenRiver Subdivision. This is the last Crossover or Siding on the west end of theGreen River Sub. It is the first crossover in the two main track (2MT) that runsfrom Spring Glen (0.2 miles east) to Pipe Mill (82.9 miles west). East HelperCrossover also marks the official beginning of the east end of the yard at Helper.

Picture 1
This is looking eastward (away from Helper) toward Spring Glen. At this point, the track on the right is the track most eastbound should be on, which is the reasonwhy only the track on the right does not have a dwarf signal. Straight ahead beyondthe dwarf signal, the crossover can be seen.

Picture 2
Here are two powered switches. The top switch (on the middle track) is theEast Helper Crossover that runs from track one to track two. The bottom switch(on the bottom track) is actually a powered derail! The turnout track actuallyleads to nothing but the ground!

Picture 3
Here is the control box at for the crossover. It already has one of the newUnion Pacific signs giving the milepost.

Picture 4
Finally, here is a shot looking toward Helper along track two. The poweredderail mentioned above looks as though it was once apart of a wye here at thecrossover. The east leg of the wye can be seen running off to the right ofthe picture.
