UP 1989 Headed West?
News Story Posted By Kevin (Click Name To Email)
Friday, June 15, 2007 - It has been a long time since UP 1989 (Search Photo Gallery) headed west on the Moffat, but that might be happening here in the not-to-distant future. The Delta County Independent is reporting that Operation Lifesaver and Union Pacific will be partnering up and running an OLS special on July 2 (between Debeque and Grand Junction) and July 3 (between Delta and Paonia on the North Fork).

You can read the story here to get additional details. The story reports that UP's "Heritage Fleet" will be used on the train. Now that could simply mean standard UP passenger cars, or it could mean UP 1989 (Search Photo Gallery). At this point, it isn't clear. If and when a more definitive answer comes in, I'll make sure to post an update.
