The eastbound Zephyr is clipping along at 70 MPH, which is track speed between Kremmling and Flat. The east switch of Troublesome was the location of a costly (and, sadly, deadly) derailment on Tuesday, May 15, 1956. The crew on an eastbound manifest missed an approach signal at west Troublesome. The train was meeting a westbound manifest, and the westbound was not yet clear of the east switch. The eastbound train realized the mistake too late, and ran the red signal and side-swiped the westbound train. This led to the creation of a short movie called "The Trouble at Troublesome". It was produced by Rio Grande to show to employees in training.
