More and more UP seems to be adopting the idea of running manifests on the Moffat with DPU. The train here is near 7,000 tons and close to 6,000 feet long. The train is just coming out of the west end of Crescent, 32 miles west of Union Station, smack dab in the middle of the Tunnel District. The train had Amtrak pass on the main a few minutes ago, and with the passenger train in the clear, the MNYPV can head toward the snow-peaked mountains in the distance. Along the right of way in the distance, the trees are lit by the headlight of the eastbound MPVNY. The ghost image of the train streaks past and the flashing lights of the crossing cast a red glow on the ground. And, of course, there is also the blinking FRED on the back of the train!
