Here, the crew will tie the train down and get a ride to Yampa. The crew on this train is based out of Grand Junction. A Denver-based crew will take the train to Denver. You can see the clear indication on the left-hand signal. This is the spot where the Craig Branch breaks away and the Dotsero Cutoff begins. It is also a crew change point. In this five minute exposure taken around 11:00pm, and eastbound manifest streaks east past the intermediate on the approach to Yarmony. All the trees and bushes were lit up by the headlight of the train. Note the signal dropping from green to red and the FRED flashing on the back of the train. In November 2000, an accident took the siding out and it wasn't until March 14, 2006 that UP finally got the siding reopened. Now, the siding was lengthened by nearly 3000 feet at the same time, but it still took a very long time. After crossing the Colorado River on the bridge in the foreground, the train will enter the 647 foot-long Yarmony Tunnel.
