Just because the sun has set does not mean you can't still get some great train shots! My dad and I set out to find some night shots on Saturday around 10:30pm. This shot was taken near the WY-59 overpass (geographically north of Bill a couple miles). This was a duration of 30 minutes and there were two westbounds (geographic northbounds) that passed by during that period, separated by about 12 minutes. I was glad there wasn't an eastbound (geographic southbound) during that stretch as it would have really washed out the shot! The lights in the distance are coming from the Antelope and North Antelope Rochelle mines. Photo taken on Saturday, July 23, 2011.

About the Webmaster
Hello! My name is Kevin Morgan and I have been a Railfan as long as I can remember. Without question, my dad is to blame for this more than anyone. He never worked for a railroad, but he did get very much into photography (of trains, specifically) in the late 1970's. I was first in North Yard in Denver when I was a mere two weeks old!

Today, I am in my thirty-somethings and I have two daughters of my own. As they are getting older, their interest in trains is waning a bit in favor of more girlish things. I suppose this is inevitable, but the three of us will still go out together for some picture taking of our own. Every other week, they visit their grandparents for a night and that is frequently the time when I will try to get trackside for some shots.

In my professional life, I am a computer programmer. That worked out quite well as it allowed me to design and build my entire website. People who have asked me what program I used to create it, I respond with "a good text editor and a lot of time".

I did some film photography in the late 1990's, but a lack of money contributed to the relatively few pictures I did take. I got my first digital camera for Christmas in 2001. It was a Minota DImage and was more of a fancy point-and-shoot. My first digital SLR was a Canon D60 which I got in October 2002. Since then, I have been shooting all Canon. I've gone through a Canon Rebel XT, Canon 20D and Canon 40D since I got that D60 in 2002. My current equipment includes the Canon 40D, a Canon IS 28-135mm lens and a Canon L-Series IS 300mm fixed lens. The Rebel XT bit the dust not long ago and I have yet to replace it, so currently I only have a single camera body. My post-processing is done in Adobe Lightroom and/or Adobe Photoshop Elements. On most of my more-recent pictures, the camera EXIF information is available at the bottom of each page.

So perhaps we'll run in to each other trackside sometime! If you see me (and the girls!) out in our Jeep, stop and say hello.

Questions or comments, feel free to send me a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can!
